IRC’s New Roots Farm, Abilene

You may notice garden boxes along the street at South 14th. These are garden boxes built by the church specifically for Refugee Farmers. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) had a study done about how to get new refugees integrated into their new county and new homes. They found if you get them back to work doing what they know, they assimilate faster. Garden boxes allow them to grow food for their families, and gets them doing what they know. We are proud to partner with the IRC in Abilene, and help our newest community members feel at home in Abilene.
